23-Year-Old Hit, Killed By Lirr Train In Sayville
A 23-year-old Long Island man was killed after he was struck by a Long Island Railroad train.
According to David Steckel with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Christopher Reitzel, of Medford, was hit by LIRR Train 64 at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, west of the Sayville Train station when he was on the tracks without authorization.
EMS transported Reitzel to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead, MTA said.
Following the incident, LIRR said the Montauk Branch service was suspended between Oakdale and Sayville until 12:20 p.m.

A 25-year-old man is accused of snapping photos of underage girls inside a dressing room at a Long Island Target store.
Suffolk County Police arrested Brandon Inzirillo on Monday, July 31, more than a month after the incident allegedly occurred at the Target in Sayville, located on Sunrise Highway.
According to police, two sisters, ages 15 and 11, were changing inside the fitting room on Wednesday, June 7, when one of them noticed that someone was holding a cell phone under the door.
The girls screamed and Inzirillo ran off, police said.

Sobriety Checkpoint: 7 Charged During Overnight Detail In Patchogue
Seven people are facing charges after an overnight sobriety checkpoint at the start of the Memorial Day weekend on Long Island.
Authorities conducted the operation in Patchogue at the intersection of Waverly Avenue and North Service Road from around 11:10 p.m. Friday, May 26, until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27.
A total of 523 vehicles went through the checkpoint, Suffolk Couty Police said.

The owner and employees of a Long Island motel were charged after investigators found that they allowed and profited from prostitution and narcotics trafficking at the business.
The news comes after an investigation into activities at the Sayville Motor Lodge, according to an announcement on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from Breon Peace, United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

A Long Island man committed violent acts against two movie theater employees, including a teenager, police announced.
A physical altercation in Sayville occurred outside Sayville Cinemas, located at 103 Railroad Ave., between a female employee and a customer on Saturday, June 18, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Suffolk County Police said.

Two Long Island residents are being hailed as heroes after pulling a woman from a burning car following a crash on the Southern State Parkway.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 eastbound near Exit 35 in Babylon.
The driver, Nancy Brady, age 58, of West Sayville, was traveling eastbound, in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, on the Southern State Parkway when her vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and caught on fire, state police said.
