Man Charged With Killing Wife Following Hours-Long Riverhead Standoff A man was charged with fatally shooting his wife in their Long Island home after an hours-long standoff. Riverhead Town Police responded to 20 Doris Ave. at approximately 9:20 a.m. Tuesday,  Aug. 27, after receiving reports of a man carrying a handgun.  Suffolk County Police Hostage Negotiation Team and Emergency Service Section officers responded to the house where Robert Brown had barricaded himself, police said.
