24-Year-Old Drowns In Ridge Backyard Pool A 24-year-old drowned in his family's backyard pool, Suffolk County Police said. Officers responded to Giant Oak Road at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13 after a family member called 911 to report finding 24-year-old Anthony Spero unresponsive in the above ground pool. A family member pulled Spero from the water and began CPR until police and Ridge Rescue arrived. Spero, who lives at the home, was transported by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later., according to police.

Farmingville Man Killed In Overnight Crash On Middle Country Road In Ridge A 57-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred overnight in Suffolk County. Candace Porter was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla northbound on Wading River Hollow Road when the vehicle collided with a 2005 Honda Sedan, driven by Necmi Gurel that was traveling westbound on Middle Country Road at approximately 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, Suffolk County Police said. Gurel, of Farmingville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, according to police.
