Hit-Run Driver Charged In Death Of Patchogue Firefighter: DA Prosecutors have formally charged a Long Island woman accused of leaving a volunteer firefighter for dead following a car crash. Maria Guallpa-Bonilla, age 36, of Bellport, was indicted on a count of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting in Suffolk County Court Thursday, July 18, in the death of Christopher Hlavaty. Fatal Hit-Run Patchogue Crash: 22-Year-Old ID'd As Victim One person was killed in an overnight hit-and-run Long Island crash. The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. Monday, June 10, in  Patchogue. According to Suffolk County Police, the victim was operating a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle and traveling eastbound on Main Street when a westbound car turned left in front of the motorcycle onto Rider Avenue, causing the collision. The vehicle, described as an older, dark-colored sedan, fled southbound on Rider Avenue. Man With Head Injuries Found Dead On Side Of Road In Patchogue A 39-year-old man with head injuries described as extensive was found dead by a passing motorist at a busy intersection in Suffolk County overnight, police said. The discovery was made in Patchogue on the side of Rider Avenue, near Edwards Street, at approximately 10:20 p.m. Saturday, June 15, Suffolk Police said.  The man, who has been identified as Clarence Wyche, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
