'Can No Longer Endanger Community': Jury Convicts Long Island Cocaine Dealer
A Long Island cocaine dealer is facing years in prison after being convicted on drug charges.
Following a two-week trial, Sean Mohan, age 49, of Central Islip, was found guilty by a Suffolk County jury Thursday, Nov. 3, on charges of criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Mohan was arrested in August 2021 after Suffolk County Police executed a search warrant on his home that turned up more than eight ounces of cocaine, according to prosecutors.

Bay Shore Teen Indicted For Shooting Guest At Baby Shower
A Long Island teen has been indicted for the shooting of a man at a woman's baby shower.
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced the assault charges against Javier Soto, age 16, of Bay Shore, on Friday, Oct. 14.
“A baby shower should be a joyous occasion celebrating the coming of new life. Here, the defendant allegedly risked lives and shot a party guest with an illegal firearm,” said Tierney. “Fortunately, there were no fatalities.”

Funding For ShotSpotter Detection System Approved In Suffolk County After Increase In Shootings
Following a significant increase in shootings, the Suffolk County Legislature has approved funding to restore the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system.
The Legislature approved the funding on Tuesday, Oct. 11, for the technology that was discontinued in 2019, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced.
According to the DA's Office, shooting incidents doubled from 2020 to 2021, after the ShotSpotter program was discontinued.
In 2021, shootings increased by another 34 percent, Tierney said.
