They Targeted Corner Lots: Duo Charged In $150K Burglary Spree At Long Island Homes
Two men are facing charges in connection with a string of burglaries on Long Island.
Joshua Mellado-Gonzalez, age 32, and Mauricio Fuentes-Jimenez, age 31, both of Queens Village, were arrested by Nassau County Police on Thursday, Dec. 29.
Investigators said the pair was responsible for a dozen break-ins around the county in November and December 2022, most of them occurring at homes located on corner lots.
The burglaries were reported in multiple areas, including Valley Stream, Lynbrook, Elmont, West Hempstead, Rockville Centre, Roosevelt, and Baldwin.

Two men were arrested for possession of a weapon after they were allegedly found in a stolen Mercedes-Benz on Long Island.
Jamaine Hayes, age 19, of Queens Village, and Tyquan Marcelin, 24 of Elmont, were arrested in West Hempstead around 8:18 p.m., Monday, Feb. 8, by the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, officers responded to a call of a stolen vehicle in the area of 490 Hempstead Turnpike. When officers arrived, they located the stolen 2016 Mercedes-Benz with a man sitting in the passenger seat.

Duo Charged With Stealing $28K Worth Of Items From High-End Long Island Store
Two men broke down a glass door to loot a police said, fleeing the scene in a Honda Civic.
Ervis Sula, 31, and Daniel Cardenas, 26, both residents of Queens Village, allegedly pillaged the Dior store in Manhasset on Sunday, Aug. 30 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Nassau County Police said.
Officers located the pair and their vehicle a short time later, and allegedly found a substance believed to be heroin on Cardenas' person, along with approximately $28,000 of stolen merchandise in the car, police said.

A suspect who scammed a Long Island woman out of nearly $10,000 was apprehended after attempting to steal tens of thousands more, police say.
According to Nassau County Police detectives, on Wednesday, Jan. 15, a 77-year-old female victim in Floral Park was contacted via telephone from an unknown person who advised her that her granddaughter was arrested after being involved in an auto accident and needed $9,800 for bail money.

Police have released the identity of a man who was killed while riding as a passenger in a vehicle that crashed on Long Island.
Keith Bailey, 47, of Queens Village, was killed around 12:48 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, when the 1995 Mitsubishi he was a passenger in slammed into a tree in Woodmere, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, the crash occurred when a 47-year-old man was driving his vehicle southwest in the vicinity 1044 Peninsula Boulevard when he lost control and struck a tree, police said.
