Long Island House Fire Leaves Family Dog Dead A house fire on Long Island left a dog dead. The blaze began at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 on Seaman Road in Jericho. Responders arrived to find the home engulfed in flames from the second floor and heavy smoke throughout.  All residents made it out safely, though the family’s dog was found dead inside.  The Nassau County PD Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal are investigating. Firefighters from Jericho, with assistance from Syosset, Hicksville, Westbury, Plainview, Bethpage, South Farmingdale, Glenwood, and Carle Place, responded and extinguished the fire.

Nassau Man Nabbed For At Least Three Sexual Assaults, Police Say An attempted sexual assault in Levittown led to the arrest of a man allegedly connected to at least two other attacks. Onel Jiminez-Maradiaga, 20, of Plainview, was arrested by members of the Nassau County Police Special Victim's Squad on Friday, Sept. 20, following an investigation into the Thursday, Sept. 12 attempted attack in Levittown, Nassau County Police said. During the Sept. 12 incident, which took place around 10:20 p.m., Jiminez-Maradiaga, allegedly approached a 43-year-old woman as she entered her home and grabbed her inappropriately, police said.
