Eight Charged For Plotting To Traffic Contraband Into Suffolk County Jail, Sheriff Announces
A three-month investigation into the smuggling and distribution of contraband at the Riverhead Jail on Long Island led to charges for three inmates and five visitors who were allegedly a part of the conspiracy, authorities announced. Investigators from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office announced the bust on Tuesday, Jan. 25 that resulted in a total of 25 felonies and 12 misdemeanor charges for trafficking drugs through jail visits and the US Postal Service.
