Father, Daughter Wanted In Girl Scout Cookie Scam Targeting Local NY Residents
Police in New York are reporting they have received at least 11 complaints from residents who said they gave to buy Girl Scouts cookies that were never delivered.
The incidents on Long Island were reported to Suffolk County Police between Saturday, June 18, and Monday, June 20, the department said.
Police say the alleged cookie scam took place in the following communities: Lake Ronkonkoma, Bohemia, and Patchogue, to Shirley to Mastic.
The money was given to a man who accompanied a young girl during some of the incidents, and in others, the girl was alone, police said.

A neighbor has been charged for the murder of a Long Island man was shot and killed outside his home.
The incident happened around 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 15 in North Bellport.
A male driver of a vehicle shot the man who was standing outside of his home at 615 Post Avenue before fleeing the scene, Suffolk County Police said.
The victim, Lee Houpe, age 28, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.

A Long Island teenager is being credited with saving an 18-year-old woman who drove her car into Patchogue Bay.
Suffolk County Police said Mia Samolinksi, of Patchogue, was driving a Subaru Outback in a parking lot near South Ocean Avenue at around 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 14.
At some point, she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, sending the vehicle right into the water, according to police.
Fortunately for her, 17-year-old Anthony Zhongor, of Patchogue, witnessed the accident and dove into the water after her, police said.

Four Long Island store clerks have been accused of selling e-liquid nicotine to minors.
In response to community complaints, Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an investigation Monday, June 6 between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. into the sale of e-liquid nicotine to minors during which numerous businesses were checked for compliance.

ID Released For Man Struck, Killed By Flatbed Truck Near Long Island Intersection
Police have identified the man killed in a crash near a Long Island intersection overnight.
The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23 in Blue Point.
The man, now identified as Joseph Coleman, age 60, of Bayport, was walking with a bicycle on Montauk Highway, near Atlantic Avenue, when he was struck by a westbound flatbed truck, Suffolk County Police said.
Coleman was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, said police.
