Closure Scheduled On Long Island Expressway
Authorities have announced a new planned closure on the Long Island Expressway. In Oyster Bay, the Exit 45 ramp (Manetto Hill Road) from eastbound I-495 will be closed, weather permitting, on Thursday, June 1 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, June 2, according to the Department of Transportation. The closure will allow for highway maintenance. Drivers who need access to Manetto Hill Road during that time are directed to instead continue east to Exit 46 (Sunnyside Boulevard) and turn right onto Sunnyside Boulevard. Authorities have announced a new planned closure on the Long Island Expressway. Drivers who will be traveling during the closure time are encouraged to use Northern State Parkway instead. Weather permitting, the westbound HOV, left, and center lanes of I-495 will be closed on the night of Thursday, May 4 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. in Oyster Bay between Exits 43 (South Oyster Bay Road) and 42 (Northern State Parkway), according to the Department of Transportation. The westbound right lane of I-495 in Oyster Bay is set to close Tuesday, March 7, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Sunnyside Boulevard and State Route 135, according to the Department of Transportation. A fire destroyed six of a Long Island town's garbage trucks. Officials announced on the morning of Sunday, Dec. 4, that a fire at the Town of Huntington’s Boxer Court maintenance facility destroyed six of the 15 garbage trucks in the overnight hours. Police are asking for help with identifying a man accused of stealing a woman’s belongings from her car outside a Long Island store. The theft occurred at around 1:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the 7-Eleven in Oyster Bay, located on Pine Hollow Road, according to Nassau County Police. Police are investigating an overnight crash on Long Island that left an 18-year-old dead and two others critically injured. State Police received multiple calls of the crash on the Southern State Parkway eastbound just west of exit 32 in the town of Oyster Bay at around 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. State officials issued an alert about upcoming lane closures on a stretch of the Long Island Expressway.
