Covid-19: Hochul Announces New Moratorium On Residential, Commercial Evictions New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new moratorium on evictions related to financial hardship from the pandemic. The governor said the moratorium on residential and commercial evictions will be in effect until Jan. 15, 2022.  Hochul said the new law, signed on Thursday, Sept. 2, continues protections for residential tenants who are suffering financial hardship due to the pandemic and adds new protections on commercial evictions.
