Nurses, Other Healthcare Workers At Valley Stream Hospital Vote To Authorize Strike Hundreds of nurses and healthcare workers at two Long Island hospitals could soon take to the picket line over what they deem as unfair working conditions. More than 700 members of the New York State Nurses Association from Northwell Health voted overwhelmingly – 99.5 percent – to authorize a strike on Thursday, Feb. 1.
