A 73-year-old man has admitted to threatening employees at the New York State Gaming Commission and mailing the agency envelopes full of white powder. Brent Carter, of Las Vegas, pleaded guilty to conveying a hoax and false information in federal court in Albany Friday, Jan. 13. Federal prosecutors said Carter left numerous voicemails for employees at the Gaming Commission’s headquarters in Schenectady between October 2017 and November 2018, often using threatening language. A 34-year-old woman is facing years in prison after admitting that she stole her cousin’s $1 million winning lottery ticket purchased on Long Island and tried keeping the bulk of the winnings for herself. Iris Argueta, of Houston, Texas, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree grand larceny in Nassau County Court on Friday, Jan. 20. A woman is facing charges for allegedly stealing a million-dollar winning New York State Lottery ticket from her cousin on Long Island, authorities said.
