A consumer alert issued by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets on Wednesday, May 22, warns of undeclared wheat allergens in several products that were manufactured by Local Roots Bakery and sold throughout New York State. The Columbus, Ohio-based company – considered an unapproved/unlicensed source by the state – failed to declare wheat allergens in its cinnamon buns, mini cinnamon buns, alfajores duos, brownies, and muffins. Dangerous Strain Of Bird Flu Found In Flock At Downstate NY Home
State officials announced that a highly contagious, dangerous strain of bird flu was found in a non-commercial flock on Long Island. Samples collected from a flock of eight birds tested positive for highly-pathogenic avian influenza, according to an announcement from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets on Saturday, Feb. 19. New York Company Recalls Frozen Pizza Products Produced Without Inspection
A New York-based company is recalling frozen pizza products that were produced without receiving a federal inspection. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Table 87 Frozen, LLC, a Brooklyn firm, is recalling an undetermined amount of frozen pizza products that contain pork and beef and were processed without proper inspection. The recall includes ready-to-eat prosciutto and pepperoni pizza products produced from June 3, 2017 through June 4, 2019.
