CT Woman Runs NYC Marathon For Son, Others Affected By Rare Condition
Diane Owens never used to like running. In fact, she was vocal about it.
But that all changed after her son was diagnosed with a rare condition.
Nine years and many marathons, half-marathons, and 5K races later, she hasn't stopped pushing forward.
Owens is originally from Bethpage on Long Island, before later moving to Connecticut as a child. She now lives in Southbury, in New Haven County.

Area HS Sports Standout Killed, Girl Critically Injured In Single-Vehicle Crash
A high school sports standout in Connecticut was killed in a single-vehicle crash that also left a 16-year-old girl in critical condition.
New Haven County resident Ryan Rutledge, age 17, of Southbury, died on Monday, April 5, after his Jeep went off the roadway around 10:35 p.m., and hit a wire rope guardrail, before the vehicle traveled down an embankment and into the Pomperaug River, said the Southbury Police.
Both Rutledge, and his passenger, were ejected from the vehicle and found in the Pomperaug River.

Mom Intentionally Drove Son Into Connecticut Lake In Murder/Suicide, Police Say
Police have determined that a mother “intentionally drove” into a Connecticut lake, killing herself and her son who was a passenger.
The incident took place on Friday, July 31, when Connie Crowell, age 54, of Monroe, and her passenger and son John Crowell, age 22, both died due to drowning when she drove an SUV into the Housatonic Lake in western New Haven County in the Town of Seymour, on Roosevelt Drive.
Seymour Deputy Police Chief Roberto Rinaldi said that following a lengthy investigation, the department has ruled the incident as a murder/suicide.
