An outbreak of COVID-19 cases has led to the closure of a Long Island school district. Many of the cases are in the transportation department, and "significantly affected our district's ability to operate," Long Beach Public Schools Superintendent Jennifer Gallagher said in a statement. Staff members at three of Long Island’s largest school districts have tested positive for COVID-19. With classes set to begin in days, an Islip High School teacher, a staff member at St. James Elementary School in Smithtown, and a member of the Merrick Avenue Middle School in Merrick have all been tested and are isolating. Rodent Infestation Causes Closure Of Movie Theater In Nassau County
A rodent infestation caused a dine-in movie theater in Nassau County to voluntarily close until it mitigates the problem. The AMC DINE-IN Levittown 10 at 3585 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown closed Wednesday, July 3 after the Nassau County Health Department went in to inspect the facility to follow up on calls to the department about the problem, according to the department's spokesperson Mary Ellen Laurain. Outbreak Of Stomach Flu Hits Wantagh School District
Cleanup crews were called to a Long Island school district after dozens of students came down with a stomach virus. All five schools in the Wantagh School District had to be disinfected, according to reports, after students began experiencing symptoms last week. In response, the schools were each scrubbed clean over the weekend as a precaution. According to the district, the Nassau County Health Department is currently monitoring the situation.
