Michaels celebrated the grand opening of its newest location on Long Island Wednesday, Oct. 30.
The company opened its 20,000-square-foot store in Hicksville's Woodbury Shopping Center, located at 410 South Oyster Bay Road, at the former location of TJ Maxx.
A popular destination for crafters and hobbyists alike, Michaels sells a wide range of arts and crafts supplies, as well as framing, floral items and candles, and home and holiday décor.
The retailer operates over 1,200 stores throughout the United States and Canada.

Mastic Beach Man Accused Of Attempting To Rob Bank In Coram
Police on Long Island captured a man who allegedly attempted to rob a bank but ran off when the teller refused to comply.
Jonathan Buchanan, age 37, of Mastic Beach, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 21 for the attempted robbery which took place on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the M&T Bank in Coram.

According to Suffolk County Police, Buchanan walked into the bank around 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, and handed the teller a note demanding cash.
When the teller refused to comply, Buchanan fled the bank, police said.

Suspect On Loose After Long Island Bank Robbery
Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a Long Island bank.
The robbery took place at 11:55 a.m., Friday, April 10, at the M&T Bank, located at 640 Johnson Ave., in Bohemia, said the Suffolk County Police.
Detectives said the man approached a teller and demanded cash, according to police. The teller complied with the demand and gave the man cash from the drawer. The man fled on foot in a northwest direction through the bank’s parking lot.
The man was described as being white, around 50 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, with a thin build.
