Man's Illegal Fireworks Contribute To Multi-Structure Long Island Fire, Police Say A 57-year-old man was arrested after a fire started at his Long Island garage – but spread to multiple properties after his illegal fireworks were set off by the flame, police said. It happened on Tuesday, March 19 in Franklin Square, according to Nassau County Police. At about 2:45 p.m. that day, a fire started in Louis Distefano’s garage at 800 Morton Avenue.
