19-Year-Old Found In Possession Of Handgun During North Lawrence Traffic Stop, Police Say A traffic stop on Long Island led to the arrest of a 19-year-old woman who was found in possession of a handgun, police said. Tashayla Ayres, of Brooklyn, was arrested in North Lawrence at about 8:10 p.m. on Monday, July 18, according to the Nassau County Police Department. An officer saw a 2009 Mitsubishi traveling north on Nassau Expressway with a defective tail light and a cracked windshield, NCPD said. Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Crash On Busy Long Island Roadway A pedestrian was seriously injured in an overnight crash on a busy Long Island roadway. The crash happened around 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12 in Port Jefferson Station. A man was driving a 2015 Mitsubishi sedan southbound on Route 112, north of Wilson Street, when the vehicle struck the male pedestrian, Suffolk County Police said. The pedestrian was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
