1 Critically Injured In Chain-Reaction Ridge Crash
This story has been updated. One person was severely injured in a chain-reach reaction crash near a Long Island intersection. It happened just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in Ridge. A 22-year-old Coram man was driving a 2012 Ford E-350 minibus westbound on Middle Country Road, just east of Ridge Road, according to Suffolk County Police. The minibus rear-ended a 2010 Ford Escape, pushing it into a westbound 2023 Ford F-150 being driven by a 59-year-old Shirley man. Sentencing Delayed After Bellport Man In Crash That Killed Five Refuses To Leave Jail Cell
Sentencing for an alleged Long Island gang member who caused a crash that killed five people on Valentine’s Day in Ridge last year was delayed after he failed to appear in court. Jamel Turner, 25, of Bellport, reportedly refused to leave his jail cell on Tuesday, Aug. 6, when he was scheduled to be sentenced in Central Islip federal court. Turner has been seeking to file a motion to withdraw his guilty plea, which he submitted earlier this year. Employee Critically Injured After Being Struck By Work Vehicle In Ridge
An employee at a fencing company on Long Island was critically injured after being struck by a work truck. The accident happened on Saturday, July 13 in Ridge. Efran Veliz-Alverado was in a work vehicle at RFC Residential Fences Corp., located at 1775 Middle Country Road, and began backing the vehicle into a parking spot when Mark Craparo walked into the yard and was struck by the truck at 10:45 a.m., Suffolk County Police said.
