'Agitated' Man Dies After Being Subdued By Cops In Wyandanch A man police described as "agitated" died shortly after being handcuffed and subdued on Long Island. The incident happened just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, in Wyandanch. A 911 call reported the man, possibly intoxicated, lying on the ground on Merritt Avenue, according to Suffolk County Police. When officers arrived, the man, who was naked from his waist down, was banging on a business window, acting irrational and agitated, said police. Armed Man Carjacks Long Island Woman, Rams Police Cruiser, Cops Say A 21-year-old homeless man was nabbed after allegedly carjacking a Long Island woman at gunpoint and ramming a police vehicle before running away on foot. The incident took place in Wheatley Heights, a hamlet of Babylon around 11 p.m., Tuesday, March 14. Suffolk County Police detectives said Kwaisi McCorvey, homeless, approached a 2016 Hyundai Tuscan that had just pulled into a driveway on Main Avenue, near Sunset Avenue.  He pointed a handgun at the driver and told her to get out of the vehicle. Police Seek Suspect In Slashing Attack At Long Island Convenience Store Police are asking for help identifying a man caught on surveillance video slashing another man with a knife at a Long Island convenience store. The incident occurred Monday, May 31, 2021, in Wyandanch, outside of the Quick Mart on Merritt Avenue. Suffolk County Police said on Tuesday, Aug. 6 that the suspect cut another man during what appears to be an altercation in the store’s parking lot.
