5 Onboard Raft In Distress Rescued On Long Island Sound In Riverhead
Five occupants of a raft in distress with insufficient safety gear were rescued on the Long Island Sound. At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 23, the Riverhead Police Department received a call from someone who stated he was on a raft with four other people in the Long Island Sound off Reeves Beach and needed assistance. The person reported the five were fishing when the current and wind began blowing them further away from the beach, and they could not return. Deer Rescued From Icy Waters In Suffolk County
Using an ice sled and lines, police rescued a deer that had fallen through the ice on a Long Island bay. The incident began around 4:18 p.m., when a Smith Point Park Ranger reported a deer stuck in the ice at Narrow Bay, off Smith Point County Park, in Shirley, said the Suffolk County Police. Police officers from the department's Marine Unit responded including Robert Daniels, Robert King, and Gary Quenzer responded. Jet Skier Holding Onto Buoy Rescued On Long Island
A jet skier found himself in a precarious position clinging to a buoy off the Long Island coastline before police came to his rescue. The Nassau County Police Marine Bureau received a report of a jet skier, possibly in distress, holding onto a buoy at approximately 9:25 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, in Point Lookout with a disabled jet ski.
