12 Rescued From Sinking 58-Foot Boat In Point Lookout
Emergency responders were able to rescue 12 people from a 58-foot that was sinking on Long Island. The incident happened just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, in Point Lookout. The vessel was about a half-mile offshore when it began taking on water, according to Nassau County Police. All passengers were safely brought back to shore. No injuries were reported. 5 Onboard Raft In Distress Rescued On Long Island Sound In Riverhead
Five occupants of a raft in distress with insufficient safety gear were rescued on the Long Island Sound. At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 23, the Riverhead Police Department received a call from someone who stated he was on a raft with four other people in the Long Island Sound off Reeves Beach and needed assistance. The person reported the five were fishing when the current and wind began blowing them further away from the beach, and they could not return. Three Rescued From Sinking Raft On Long Island Sound
Three men on stuck on a raft which was taking on water were rescued from Long Island Sound. The incident took place in Suffolk County around 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 14, when a 911 caller reported three men were fishing and became stranded in a 10-foot inflatable raft that was drifting out to sea approximately one mile north of Sound Beach, said the Suffolk County Police. Four In Water Clinging To Sinking Boat On Long Island Sound Rescued
Four men clinging to a partially submerged boat in the Long Island Sound that was spotted by a nearby oyster boat were rescued by a police marine unit in Westport. At approximately 2:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, June 18, the Westport Marine Unit responded to a call of four people in the water near Peck’s Ledge Lighthouse. An oyster boat reported the incident to the Norwalk Police Department who in turn, alerted Westport officers, Westport Police said.
