Richard Bopp, age 45, of Malverne, faced his charges on Thursday, Feb. 8, the Nassau County District Attorney announced. Bopp served as Chief of the Malverne Fire Department from 2019 to 2021; then, starting in April 2021, he became the department’s treasurer. Construction Site Accident: Man Critically Injured In Malverne An investigation is underway after a person was critically injured in an incident on Long Island. It happened around 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 19 in Malverne. That's when a 69-year-old man was struck by a Bobcat excavator, operated by a 29-year-old man while working on a construction site at a Malverne residence, Nassau County Police said. The victim, whose identity has not been released, suffered serious injuries and was transported by a Nassau County Police Helicopter to a local hospital for treatment. Man Arrested For Possession Of Gun During Nassau County Traffic Stop, Police Say An area man has been arrested for alleged criminal possession of a weapon during a traffic stop on Long Island. Kevin Balam, age 54, of Queens, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 11, in Malverne, said the Nassau County Police. Dix Hills resident Mark Savransky, 59, has been sentenced to a term of three to six years in prison for scamming the homeowners out of a total of $601,546.92, which he must also pay in restitution.
