23-Year-Old Hit, Killed By Lirr Train In Sayville
A 23-year-old Long Island man was killed after he was struck by a Long Island Railroad train.
According to David Steckel with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Christopher Reitzel, of Medford, was hit by LIRR Train 64 at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, west of the Sayville Train station when he was on the tracks without authorization.
EMS transported Reitzel to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead, MTA said.
Following the incident, LIRR said the Montauk Branch service was suspended between Oakdale and Sayville until 12:20 p.m.

Officials have released the name of the person struck and killed by a Long Island Railroad train.
Suffolk County resident, Malkhaz Khutsishvili, age 63, of the hamlet of Speonk in Southampton, was killed around 6:30 p.m., on Monday, May 8 in Eastport, MTA officials said.

22-Year-Old Struck, Killed By Train In Hicksville
A local resident was struck and killed by a Long Island Railroad train over the weekend.
Suffolk County resident Tyshawn R. Hunter, age 22, of Port Jefferson Station, was struck around 11 p.m., Friday, March 24 in Nassau County near the Hicksville Station, according to the MTA.
The incident occurred west of the Hicksville station in an area unauthorized for pedestrians, MTA officials said.
Service was initially suspended between Mineola and Hicksville Stations.
MTA police, EMS, and the LIRR supervision team responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Man Lying On Tracks Hit, Killed By Lirr Train, Nassau County Police Say
Police are investigating after a person was hit by a Long Island Railroad train, delaying service for commuters.
The man was struck around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, east of the Forest Hills by a Hempstead Branch train, according to the MTA.
According to the NYPD, the man was seen lying on the "roadbed" as the train pulled into the Forest Hills, Queens, station.
The motorman saw but could not stop in time, police said.

A Long Island man and woman have been charged after allegedly racially harassing a family on a Long Island Railroad train at Penn Station.

A local woman riding on the Long Island Railroad was injured when she was hit in the head with a laptop computer by another rider.
The incident took place around 10:52 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, when Southampton Police responded to the Bridgehampton Train Station for a reported attack.
