Teen Killed In Crash That Caused Long Island Expressway Closure
An investigation is underway after a teenager was killed in a crash that causes the closure of a stretch of the Long Island Expressway.
Franklin Eduardo Sajbin, age 22, of Riverhead, was driving a 2004 Jeep eastbound near exit 66 in Yaphank when he struck a 2018 Alfa Romeo driven by David Cohen, age 55, of Old Bethpage, at approximately 2:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, Suffolk County Police said.
The Jeep then hit the guardrail and flipped over the embankment, landing on the LIE Service Road, according to police.

Worker From Northern Westchester Dies After Falling From Business Roof
A worker from Westchester died after falling off the roof of a Long Island business, police said.
The incident happened in Suffolk County on Monday, Jan. 18 at around 3:40 p.m.
Hector Aranda-Sanchez, age 27, of Peekskill, an employee of a Yonkers-based roofing company, was on the roof of Four Seasons Sunrooms and Windows, located at 5005 Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook, when he fell from the roof, police said.
Aranda-Sanchez was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

A Long Island teenager was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed a car into a house overnight, police said.
The incident happened just before 12:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11 in Shirley.
Jefersson Soysos, age 19, of Shirley, was driving a 2011 Kia Forte southbound on Chanel Drive East when he drove through the intersection at Floyd Road South, struck a brick stanchion, overturned, and crashed through the front wall of a residence, Suffolk County Police said.

A man is facing drug and weapons charges after a crash at a Long Island intersection that killed a man.
Malcolm Stewart, age 29, of Coram, was driving a 2014 Mercedes-Benz in Medford, northbound on County Road 101 at approximately 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3 when he drove through a red light and his vehicle struck a 2021 Chevrolet, driven by James Palumbo, age 56, of Yaphank, Suffolk County Police.
Palumbo was traveling southbound, making a left turn onto Station Road, according to police.

Long Island Man Accused Of Leaving Scene Of Crash Causing 7-Year-Old's Death
A Long Island man has been indicted for allegedly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash without reporting that resulted in the death of a 7-year-old boy.
Phuoc Truong, a/k/a Philip Truong, 32, of Southampton, was indicted on Thursday, Dec. 10, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini.
“This was an unspeakable tragedy, but we hope that the apprehension and indictment of this defendant bring some solace to the victim’s family,” Sini said.
