Fire Guts Long Island Deli, Apartment Building A fire destroyed a Long Island business and displaced several residents from an upstairs apartment. Nearly a dozen agencies responded to the commercial fire that broke out at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 in West Babylon, at Frank's Deli on Little East Neck Road. By the time firefighters arrived, flames had spread to much of the deli’s ceiling, eventually causing part of the roof to collapse. The incident happened just before 3 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, in West Babylon, near the intersection of Little East Neck Road and Hamlin Avenue. Suffolk County Police said officers attempted to stop a Honda that was speeding on Route 109 near Feustal Street when the driver fled, running several red lights and driving into oncoming traffic. Woman Found Dead After House Fire Breaks Out In West Babylon A woman died after a house fire overnight on Long Island. The blaze broke out around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Tuesday, June 14 in West Babylon at 889 Little East Neck Road, Suffolk County Police said.  After the fire was extinguished, Colleen Jalbert, age 71, was located inside the residence, according to police. Jalbert was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.  Her daughter, age 48, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Suspect At Large After Knifepoint Robbery At Long Island 7-Eleven Police are searching for a suspect after a knifepoint robbery at a Long Island 7-Eleven. The man armed with a knife entered the store in West Babylon, located at 901 Little East Neck Road, on Wednesday, April 27 at approximately 11:20 p.m., and demanded the employee open the cash register, Suffolk County Police said.  The man fled on a bicycle, northbound, on Little East Neck Road, said police. Boy Suffers Injuries After Falling Out Of Window Of Long Island Home A 7-year-old boy is in stable condition after falling out of a second-floor window of a Long Island home. The incident took place around 11:25 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 10 in West Babylon, said the Suffolk County Police. According to police,  officers responded to 1167 Little East Neck Road, after the child slipped and fell through an opening in the window, police said. He was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
