Five people were injured, one seriously, in an overnight Long Island crash.
It happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Saint James.
A 40-year-old Coram man was driving a 2004 Honda Accord westbound on Middle Country Road, approaching the intersection of Lake Avenue, when the vehicle struck a 2024 Chevrolet Sonic that had been traveling eastbound and was attempting to turn left onto Lake Avenue, Suffolk County Police said.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 68-year-old Port Jefferson man, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries…

A man was seriously injured in an overnight crash at an intersection on Long Island.
It happened around 9:40 p.m. Monday, April 12 in Saint James.
Timothy Hearney, age 52, of Saint James, was driving a 2021 Nissan Acura eastbound on Woodlawn Avenue, when his vehicle was struck at the intersection of Lake Avenue by a northbound 2016 Ford pickup truck, driven by Steven Schwamb, age 31, of Centereach, Suffolk County Police said.
Schwamb was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to police.

Support is pouring in for the popular Long Island high school teacher and coach killed in a hit-and-run crash over the weekend.
Michael McDermott, 37, a teacher at Kings Park High School, was jogging on the shoulder of the southbound lane of Lake Avenue, north of Oak Street in Saint James, when he was struck by a southbound 2014 Nissan sedan at 12:21 p.m. Sunday, July 14, Suffolk County Police said.
McDermott taught physical education and coached junior varsity baseball at Kings Park.
