Man, Accomplices Stole $1M In Cash, Items From Gated Long Island Homes, DA Says
A man was convicted for his role in a pattern burglary ring that targeted homes in gated communities on the North Shore of Long Island.
Brayan Castano, 33, of Elmhurst, Queens, was convicted on Friday, Oct. 22 in a jury trial of seven counts of burglary in the second degree, attempted burglary in the second degree, and possession of burglar’s tools.
Castano was acquitted of one count of burglary in the second degree. The trial began on Monday, Sept. 20. The jury deliberated for just over a day before rendering a verdict. Castano is due back for sentencing Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Long Island Man Sentenced For Fatal 2018 Shooting Of 30-Year-Old
A Long Island man has been sentenced for the 2018 murder of a 30-year-old.
On Oct. 19, 2018, at approximately 10:55 a.m., victim Demetrius Winfield was exiting his vehicle, on break from his job, in front of a home on Wellesley Street in Hempstead, the Nassau County District Attorney's Office said.
Winfield and a friend were then shot by Jamik Cannon, age 28, of Hempstead, and his co-conspirator Brian Marshall-Gibson, according to authorities, who said that Cannon and Marshall-Gibson fired at least 15 shots in 14 seconds.

A New York man acting as a broker for individuals looking to buy and sell boats allegedly stole more than $35,000 of the proceeds from the sale of a boat belonging to a client, authorities announced.
In 2019, Nassau County resident Brendan Daly, the owner of All Point Yacht Sales, located in Suffolk County, in Port Jefferson, acted as broker for a boat owner to help facilitate the sale and transfer of his boat for $157,000 to a buyer, according to authorities.
