Inside Job: Pair Steals Copper Wire From Long Island Employer, Police Say Two Long Island men were arrested after police allegedly discovered they were swiping copper wire from their employer. Nassau County Police Department received notification of the theft from a company in Jericho between Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16. The report indicated that a burglar had stolen copper wire from Getty Terminal Corp, located at 125 Jericho Turnpike. After an investigation, police arrested two employees for the theft — 35-year-old Carlos Hernandez of Bellerose and 23-year-old Hugo Ayala of Malverne. It happened around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 15 in Jericho. A 30-year-old man was operating a 2021 Kia-K5 sedan heading westbound on Jericho Turnpike when he struck a motorcyclist who was also heading westbound, Nassau County Police said.  The motorcyclist, a 29-year-old man, was pronounced dead at 11:52 p.m. by police medics, the NCPD said.
