Both Directions Of LIE To Close For Maintenance: Here's Where, When Traffic officials have announced a new set of closures which will shut down both directions of the Long Island Expressway. Starting on Monday, June 17, and lasting approximately four weeks, both directions of I-495 will be closed between Exits 37 (Willis Avenue) and 39 (Glen Cove Road) in North Hempstead. According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the closures will take place on weeknights between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The closures are to facilitate maintenance on the Roslyn Road bridge and are weather permitting. $33 Million In Pavement Resurfacing Projects Completed On Long Island A long-needed $33 million paving project on Long Island has been completed. The completion of the project that included several major road resurfacing projects was announced on Thursday, Dec. 10, by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. The projects were untaken to enhanced safety and improved travel conditions on portions of the Northern State Parkway and other well-traveled roads, the Governor's Office said.
