Suspect Nabbed After String Of Business, Home Burglaries In Nassau County
A suspect has been apprehended after a string of business and home burglaries on Long Island.
The incidents happened between Friday, Dec. 29, and Wednesday, Jan. 13 at five locations in Nassau County.
The suspect, Marc Gagliano, age 39, of North New Hyde Park, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 13, Nassau County Police said.
Detectives say Gagliano burglarized the following locations:
A residence located on New Hyde Park Road, North New Hyde Park,

Motorist Killed After Car Crashes Into Multiple Telephone Poles On Long Island Roadway
A Long Island man was killed during a single-vehicle crash in which the car hit multiple utility poles.
The crash took place around 9:15 a.m., Friday, March 5, in Herricks, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, a 2008 Chevy Impala traveling eastbound on Hillside Avenue left the roadway, struck multiple utility poles, and came to a stop near Devonshire Drive.
The victim, a 75-year-old resident of the Village of Bellerose in Nassau County, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Covid-19: Long Island Sees Slight Uptick In Cases, Here's Breakdown By Towns
Long Island has seen a slight uptick in positive COVID-19 cases though statewide numbers continue trending in the right direction.
There have now been 44,924 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nassau, and 45,006 in Suffolk as each county saw less than 100 new cases in the latest numbers provided by the state Department of Health.
There have been 2,198 COVID-19 fatalities in Nassau and 2,005 in Suffolk.
On Long Island, the positive infection rate over the past three days:
Monday, Aug. 31: 1.0 percent;
Tuesday, Sept. 1: 0.8 percent;
Wednesday, Sept. 2: 1.1 percent.

Nearly 400 employees of different Nassau County institutions have been had their identities stolen and used to file false unemployment claims during a scheme that started at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
To date, the identities of 380 people working for Northwell Health, Nassau County Community College, Hofstra University, the Villages of Valley Stream, East Williston, and Herricks, several Nassau County school districts and other smaller organizations have been stolen by the fraud rings, which submitted false claims to unemployment, said Nassau County District Attorney Madeli…
