Nationwide Meat Recall Expands To 11.7M Pounds: Products Sold At Major Supermarkets
A nationwide recall of meat and poultry products over fears they may be contaminated with Listeria has been expanded to include 11,765,285 pounds.
The initial recall involving the manufacturer, Bruce Pac, was for 9,986,245 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) products sold at Walmart, Target, Amazon, Trader Joe's, 7-Eleven, Aldi, and other stores. It was announced on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Late Tuesday night, Oct. 15, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced 1.8 million pounds of new products have been added to the recall.

Workers in downstate New York are all getting a holiday bonus this year, as minimum wage rates get bumped for the third straight year.
As of Friday, Dec. 31, minimum wage workers in Westchester, Suffolk, and Nassau counties will see a bump in their paychecks as their hourly wages will rise to a minimum of $15, putting them on par with employees at large firms in New York City, which has been at that benchmark for three years.
Minimum wage employees in those counties had previously been getting $14 an hour.

With pandemic unemployment benefits drying up this month, a newly constructed Walmart Supercenter is offering hundreds of jobs to prospective employees on Long Island.
Walmart announced that it has established a hiring center for its new Supercenter location at 1490 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, which is in need of filling more than 400 hourly and management positions.

The first batch of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccines will include 170,000 doses that are earmarked for New York’s nursing homes, healthcare workers, and other vulnerable populations.
During his COVID-19 briefing on Wednesday, Dec. 2 in Albany, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the first batch is coming to New York, with more on the way from both Pfizer and Moderna expected later in the month.
