Ronald Schroeder, age 41, of Huntington Station, was indicted for concealment of a human corpse and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the death of Seikeya Jones. These Long Island Schools Honored For Excellent Scholars, Athletes Just 35 high schools across Long Island were given a special designation for their stellar athletes who double as stellar academics. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association, or NYSPHSAA, announced its 2022-2023 “School of Distinction” list on Thursday, July 27. Out of all 84 schools given the award, 35 were from Long Island. In order to qualify, a high school must have 100 percent of its varsity teams qualify for a “Scholar-Athlete team award,” which designates that the team’s average GPA is greater than or equal to a 90. Covid-19: New Long Island School District Goes To Remote Learning After Student Tests Positive A Long Island high school has closed temporarily and transitioned to a remote learning model after a student tested positive for COVID-19. The student at Harborfields High School in Greenlawn tested positive for the virus over the weekend, the district announced.
