Fatal Overnight Crash: 37-Year-Old Woman ID'd As Victim In Riverhead A woman was killed after being struck by an SUV on a Long Island roadway overnight. The incident happened just before 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, in Riverhead, on eastbound Old Country Road, near the Gulf Gas Station and the Residence Inn Hotel. Upon arrival of the Riverhead Police Department Patrol Division, it was determined that a 2009 Nissan Rogue, operated by a 46-year-old woman, struck two pedestrians.  One of the pedestrians was a woman identified as Denise Wack, 37 years old. Man Charged With Robbing Hotel In Westchester: Was Already In Jail, Police Say A Long Island man who was already in jail for another robbery and subsequent police chase faces more charges after allegedly stealing cash from a hotel's register in Westchester.  The incident happened on Saturday, Feb. 11 around 4:45 a.m., when police in the city of Rye responded to the Courtyard Marriott located at 631 Midland Ave. for a reported robbery.  Upon arriving, the hotel's front desk agent told officers that a man had entered the hotel around 4:40 a.m. and had demanded money from the register. 5 Nabbed For Selling Vape, E-Cigarettes To Minors In Huntington, Copiague Five businesses were nabbed for allegedly selling vape and e-cigarettes to minors during a series of compliance checks on Long Island.  The checks took place in Huntington and Copiague on Monday, Nov. 7 at 13 businesses throughout the area. Suffolk County Police said the investigation was in response to receiving numerous community complaints about the sale of vapes and e-cigarettes to minors. An alert was issued by police investigators on Long Island as they seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a wanted man who allegedly targeted an area gas station in March. Police said that the suspect broke a glass window at the Gulf Gas station on Middle Country Road in Lake Grove at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5. Once inside, it is alleged that the wanted man stole more than 20 packs of Newport cigarettes and approximately $2,000 in cash from the station.
