An 18-year-old man was arrested months after he allegedly stole a mailed check from Long Island and deposited it for himself.
Nassau County Police announced it had arrested Andrew Herrera, age 18, for his alleged role in stealing an Atlantic Beach check nearly a year before, in March 2023.
The victim, a 69-year-old man, first mailed the $8,000 check from the Atlantic Beach Post Office, at 1848 Park Street.

Nassau County Police announced the arrest of 38-year-old Anthony Boglino of Miller Place on Wednesday, Feb. 7 for the alleged scheme, which took place about seven months prior.
On Sunday, July 2, 2023, Boglino — who is the founder of Miele Consulting Corporation — met with a woman, 48, in Merrick under the guise of helping her secure a Small Business Administration Loan (SBA).

A former fire department treasurer from Long Island is accused of using the department’s debit cards for personal use, withdrawing cash from out-of-state casinos.
Richard Bopp, age 45, of Malverne, faced his charges on Thursday, Feb. 8, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
Bopp served as Chief of the Malverne Fire Department from 2019 to 2021; then, starting in April 2021, he became the department’s treasurer.
According to the DA’s Office, From July 2021 to May 2023, Bopp wrote and cashed five checks from the department to himself, totaling about $5,000.

A Queens man has been arrested after he allegedly conned two women out of over $150,000, including one Long Islander who was awarded money as part of the 9/11 Victim Fund, police said.
Richard Yasnis, age 42, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 20 for his alleged Locust Valley crimes, according to Nassau County Police.

A trio of men involved in a string of burglaries targeting Long Island makeup stores have been caught, police announced.
The suspected thieves were caught on Friday, Dec. 15 in Oceanside, according to Nassau County Police.

A man who was not feeling the holiday spirit was taken into custody after police said he swiped tens of thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes from Long Island 7-Eleven stores.
The alleged thief, 55-year-old Andre Christmas of Uniondale, was arrested at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 in Hempstead for an alleged string of robberies.
