Authorities have identified the man who was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train.
The incident happened at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, west of the Wyandanch station, near the intersection of Long Island Avenue and Straight Path.
On Thursday, May 25, the victim was identified as 30-year-old Demetrius Houanche, of Deer Park, an MTA spokesperson told Daily Voice.

Friends of a vibrant Long Island woman allegedly shot and killed in her luxury apartment building by her boyfriend have stepped up to help her family cover funeral expenses.
Marivel Estevez, age 39, of Mineola, was killed by her 55-year-old boyfriend Mark E. Small, of Elmont, around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, in her apartment at the Allure of Mineola, said the Nassau County Police.
In a bizarre twist, Small then stole Estevez's dog and took off on the Long Island Expressway where he got into an accident, police said.

Community Rallies To Support Family Of 25-Year-Old Long Island Fatal Shooting Victim
A grieving Long Island mother who just lost her son during a tragic shooting has started a GoFundMe to help pay for his funeral expenses.
David Bliss, age 25, of Shirley, was found on the ground with a gunshot wound on Wednesday, March 24.
The investigation into the shooting continues and the suspect has not been captured.
The family turned to GoFundMe after her husband lost his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Bliss says the family does not have the money for a proper funeral.

Community Rallies To Support Family Of 21-Year-Old Killed In Long Island Crash
Just days after a 21-year-old Long Island man was killed in a single-vehicle crash, the community is rallying to help cover funeral expenses.
Christopher Gutierrez, of Brentwood, was killed around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, on the Southern State Parkway at exit 40 in the town of Islip.
According to state police, Gutierrez was traveling eastbound when his vehicle, a 2017 Subaru, left the roadway, striking a line of trees.
Gutierrez sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to police.

The body of a missing Long Island teen was recovered in Peconic Bay overnight, the Coast Guard announced late Sunday morning, Jan. 3, according to the Coast Coast.
Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound personnel received a report from the Riverhead Police Department at 4:50 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2 that the teen, Raistlin Ruther, departed Jamesport, at 8 a.m. Saturday in a blue kayak and did not return.
