A trucker was allegedly driving drunk when he crashed his tractor-trailer, taking down streetlamps and spilling diesel fuel across the Long Island Expressway, Suffolk County police announced on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Timothy Murray, 64, of Mastic, was behind the wheel of a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer when he veered off the westbound LIE near Exit 50 in Dix Hills, smashing into the guardrail around 7:48 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, police said.

A man has been apprehended for leaving the scene after driving his delivery truck into a school bus and seven other cars, injuring multiple adults and children, police said.
On Thursday, May 25 at approximately 6:45 a.m., a delivery truck driver (operated by 56-year-old Maxwell Taylor), collided with multiple vehicles in East Meadow and North Bellmore, including a school bus, according to the Nassau County police.

Man Killed In Two-Vehicle Brentwood Crash
A man was killed after his vehicle collided with a truck on Long Island.
The victim was riding a 2020 Suzuki motorcycle around 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, in Brentwood near Wicks Road when the crash occurred.
An investigation found that Wayne Smith, age 47, of Brentwood, lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a southbound 2020 Freightliner truck, said the Suffolk County Police.
Smith was taken via ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the truck, Misael Jiminez, age 63, of Islip, was not injured.

ID Released For 38-Year-Old Killed In I-87 Crash Involving Westchester Resident
State Police have identified the driver of a tractor-trailer killed in a crash on I-87 in Rockland County.
Victor M. Naula Lopez, age 38, of Whitestone, Queens, was killed around 5 a.m., Friday, March 12, on I-87 in Ramapo, said Trooper Tara McCormick.
During the crash, Lopez was operating a 2018 Peterbilt tractor-trailer northbound on I-87, in the middle lane when a 2021 Toyota sideswiped the tractor-trailer, causing it to spin out and strike a 2011 Freightliner Semi, driven by Celso A. Lopez, age 56, of New Rochelle.
Lopez was uninjured, McCormick said.
