1 Dies After Kayak Carrying Man, 8-Year-Old Overturns In Hamptons A Long Island man died after the kayak he was in with an 8-year-old child overturned. The incident took place in the hamlet of Northampton near Riverhead in Wildwood Lake around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. According to Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph, Adalfo Castro, age 35, of Mastic, was in a kayak with the child on Wildwood lake when the vessel overturned. A bystander in a nearby boat was able to pull the boy from the water, but could not reach the adult, Ralph said. Passenger Killed When Vehicle Slams Into Long Island Home, Police Say A passenger in a vehicle that ran into a Long Island home has died from injuries after being ejected from the car.  The single-car crash took place around 5 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17 when the 2007 Toyota sedan slammed into a two-story residence on Flanders Road, said the Southampton Police. Long Island Teen Nabbed For 'Tagging' More Than 35 Items With Graffiti, Police Say A 16-year-old Long Island teenager has been arrested and charged with "tagging" more than 35 items with graffiti, authorities announced. The Suffolk County teen from Flanders was arrested on Monday, July 12, after he was spotted by an officer spray painting an electric pane and a light pole near Oak Avenue in Flanders, said Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph. When the officer approached the teen he attempted to flee and was quickly stopped by the officer.  The juvenile resisted arrest, causing the officer to sustain a minor injury.
