Now loved ones are mourning the loss of the Long Island native and father of three following his death Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the age of 52, according to his obituary.

Three Fisherman From Staten Island Reel In 500-Pound Shark
They almost needed a bigger boat.
A thresher shark weighing more than 500 pounds was caught by a trio of fishermen from the Staten Island Fishing Club following a three-hour battle off the coast of Sandy Hook, N.J. on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Joseph Egitto, 27, of Arden Heights; Pat Salvato, 42, of Tottenville; and Frank Pomponio, 25, of Great Kills, reeled in the 510-pound shark, which measured at a whopping 94 inches in length.
The three took turns strapping into a harness as they fought the shark, which was eventually dragged onto the 23-foot boat after it was hooked.

A United States Air Force veteran from Northport who loved fishing in the Great South Bay Richard J.P. Pordon died Tuesday, May 28 at age 88.
Pordon is being remembered as "hardworking, kind and caring" and a "stalwart steward" of planet earth "and "especially his favorite fishing waters, the Great South Bay."
