Coast Guard Rescues Fishermen Near Montauk Three fishermen were rescued off the shore of Long Island by the Coast Guard. The rescue took place around 9:30 p.m., Sunday, June 27 about 72 miles southeast of Montauk.  Coast Guard officials received a VHF radio call from a 44-foot commercial fishing vessel, the Nite Nurse, reporting the vessel was taking on water and sinking. The Coast Guard issued an urgent marine information broadcast and dispatched a Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew, an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew, and Coast Guard Cutter Kingfisher to the scene.
