Mastic Beach Man Accused Of Attempting To Rob Bank In Coram
Police on Long Island captured a man who allegedly attempted to rob a bank but ran off when the teller refused to comply.
Jonathan Buchanan, age 37, of Mastic Beach, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 21 for the attempted robbery which took place on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the M&T Bank in Coram.

According to Suffolk County Police, Buchanan walked into the bank around 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, and handed the teller a note demanding cash.
When the teller refused to comply, Buchanan fled the bank, police said.

A suspect in a string of nine burglaries of businesses in Suffolk County was apprehended after a stop on the Long Island Expressway, police said.
Following a months-long investigation, the suspect was located just after 10:10 p.m. Friday, July 22 in Dix Hills on the westbound LIE at Commack Road, Suffolk County Police.
The man, Robert Blackmore, age 54, of Ronkonkoma, threw a rock at the glass, entered and stole cash from several businesses in Suffolk County since January, according to police.

A Long Island man has been charged after he filed a false police report claiming he was kidnapped, authorities said.
Luis R. Umanzor, age 49, said he was abducted by three unknown men in the parking lot outside 1700 Veterans Memorial Highway in Islandia on Thursday, June 16 at approximately 6 a.m., Suffolk County Police said.
Umanzor, of Brentwood, said the men put a bag over his head, forced him into a car, and kept him at an unspecified location against his will for several hours before dropping him off at a local hospital.

Suspect Charged After Owner Killed Inside Lindenhurst Business
A suspect has been charged for the murder of an owner who was killed inside his Long Island business.
On Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at approximately 9:40 p.m., a family member of Kinshuk Patel, owner of Dapper Smoke Shop, located in Lindenhurst at 411 40th St., was unable to contact him and responded to the business where Patel was found injured, Suffolk County Police said.
Patel, age 33, of Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
