Joaquin Franco, age 42, of Brentwood, was indicted for criminal possession of a weapon and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Monday, Nov. 18, stemming from a shooting at a Central Islip residence.

Temple Shooting: 28-Year-Old Federally Charged After Gunshots At NY Synagogue
The man accused of opening fire at a New York synagogue on the first day of Hanukkah has been federally charged.
Mufid Fawaz Alkhader, age 28, of Schenectady, appeared in Albany federal court on Friday, Dec. 8, where he was arraigned on one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm.
According to the criminal complaint, Alkhader approached Albany’s Temple Israel, located on New Scotland Avenue, at around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 armed with a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun.
He then fired the weapon twice into the air, prosecutors allege.

MS-13 Gang Members Indicted For 'Senseless, Brutal' Long Island Murders: DA
A pair of alleged MS-13 gang members have been indicted for two murders on Long Island, including one near a high school, according to US authorities.
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, the US Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York announced the counts against Carlos Humberto Aquino-Hernandez and Gerson Hernandez, both 22.
The first murder occurred on July 19, 2022.

A 25-year-old wanted man is facing additional charges after a traffic stop on Long Island turned up three guns, two of them real, authorities said.
Rahson Dickerson, of the Bronx, was arrested at around 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Woodmere after Nassau County Police were called to assist the NYPD with a traffic stop near West Broadway and Eastwood Road.
Inside Dickerson’s car, officers found two handguns and one imitation gun, according to police.

Tyrone Vick, age 24, of Floral Park, was arrested following an investigation on Wednesday, Jan. 5, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Officers saw a 2015 Honda CRV on King Street in Floral Park with Vick was slumped over in the driver's seat at about 7:45 p.m., NCPD said.
