Alleged Bribes, Illegal Campaign Cash: Feds Lay Out Case Against NYC Mayor Eric Adams
Federal authorities released the indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday, Sept. 26, laying out their case for corruption, bribery, and misuse of public funds, reports said.
Federal investigators have charged the 64-year-old Democrat with five counts, including conspiracy to receive illegal foreign campaign contributions, wire fraud, and bribery, said Damian Williams, the US. attorney for the Southern District of New York in a news conference.

Embattled New York Congressman George Santos has been charged with at least one federal crime, CNN reports.
The Republican lawmaker, whose 3rd District represents parts of Nassau County and Queens, is expected to be arraigned on the sealed charge or charges in federal court in Brooklyn on Wednesday, May 10, according to the outlet, which cited three sources familiar with the matter.

Ex-Suffolk DA Spota, Aide Sentenced For Corruption
Two former high-ranking Suffolk County government officials have been sentenced to jail following a six-week federal jury trial.
Former Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas J. Spota and Christopher McPartland, his former anti-corruption aide were each sentenced Tuesday, Aug. 10, by US District Judge Joan M. Azrack, to five years in prison.
Additionally, Spota, age 79, of Mount Sinai, was ordered to pay a $100,000 fine.

Former Mangano Top Aide Admits To Obstructing Justice
A former top aide to Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano has admitted to lying to federal investigators in an effort to cover up a $5,000 cash payment he received from a county contractor.
Rob Walker, 43, a former chief deputy to Mangano, pleaded guilty in federal court in Central Islip on Wednesday, May 29, to one count of obstruction of justice. He is expected to receive less than two years in prison.
In court, Walker admitted to meeting with an informant working with the government and asked him not to disclose a $5,000 payment that he received in 2014.
