Covid-19: Long Island Infection Rate Climbs Over 4 Percent; New Breakdown By Community
Long Island hit a dubious milestone as the battle against the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus rages forward.
The average seven-day COVID-19 infection rate on Long Island of those tested jumped above 4 percent, to 4.07 percent on Thursday, Aug. 19, up from 3.96 percent the previous day, representing the first time the number topped that threshold in months.
Statewide, the average infection rate is on the decline for the third straight day, from 3.16 percent on Tuesday, Aug. 17, to 3.15 the following day, to 3.13 percent on Aug. 19.

As the Hudson Valley, Long Island and New York City move to the next phases of the four-phase reopening process this week, the number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and hospitalizations has continued to remain stable.
According to data released Sunday, June 21, there are 1,142 COVID-19 hospitalizations, including 332 ICU, statewide. A total of 15 COVID-related deaths have been reported since Saturday, June 20.
There were 664 new COVID cases, bringing the statewide total during the pandemic to 387,936.

Covid-19: NY State Releases Number Of Deaths Per County
Westchester County Executive George Latimer has directed that all flags at county parks and facilities be lowered to half-staff in memory of the Westchester residents who have died during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The number of casualties in Westchester climbed to 197, according to statistics from throughout New York State released late Saturday afternoon by Melissa DeRosa, Secretary to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Covid-19: Cuomo 'Concerned' As Long Island Cases Climb To 12,024
There was more than 1,400 new novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in both Nassau and Suffolk as the total number of cases tops 10,000 in both counties, numbers New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called “concerning.”
At his daily COVID-19 briefing on Friday, April 3, Cuomo confirmed that there were 1,437 new cases in Nassau, as the total rose to 12,024, and there were 1,408 new cases in Suffolk, bringing the total to 10,154 since the outbreak began.
