LI Woman Who Fled Scene Of Crash Injuring Pedestrian Charged With DWI Under Leandra's Law
A Long Island woman who fled the scene of a crash in which a pedestrian was injured was driving drunk with a child inside the vehicle, police say.
It happened on Saturday night, Nov. 16 in Wyandanch.
Tasena Jennings, 33, of West Babylon, was driving a 1999 Lincoln Navigator northbound on N. 20th Street when the vehicle struck an occupied, parked 2003 GMC, causing the GMC to strike a pedestrian in front of 127 N. 20th St. at 7:10 p.m., Suffolk County Police said. Jennings then fled the scene, according to police.

Westchester Pastor Charged In Brutal Killing Of Estranged Wife, DA Says
A 63-year-old pastor from Westchester has been charged with murder, manslaughter and other charges for allegedly running over his estranged wife and then hacking her with a machete.
Victor Mateo, of Yonkers, a pastor at the Christian Congregation The Redeemer Church in the Bronx, was arraigned Tuesday, Oct. 22, for the murder which took place on Thursday, Oct. 3, said Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark.
According to an investigation, at about 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 3, Mateo parked his vehicle near the home of Noelia Mateo, 58, on Ellsworth Avenue in Throgs Neck.

Suffolk Woman Arrested After Child Left Home Alone Allegedly Starts Two Fires
A woman was arrested after a 7-year-old left home alone on Long Island allegedly started two fires.
Nora Soto-Cordova, 32, of Northampton in Suffolk County, was arrested at 10:45 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, after Southampton Police responded to a residence in Northampton for a house fire, said Southampton Police Lt. Susan Ralph.
Officers spoke to a resident who found a fire had been started in his bedroom and another in the kitchen area, Ralph said.
