Woman Attacked By Dog At Long Island Home
A woman is recovering after being attacked by a dog on Long Island. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in Elmont. Nassau County Police officers responding to the Newburgh Street residence found the 81-year-old had suffered multiple lacerations to various parts of her body. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment of her injuries. She is currently listed in stable condition. The Nassau County Emergency Service Unit (ESU) responded and secured the animals. The investigation is ongoing.

Wanted Man Retreats To Roof Of Hempstead Home Before Being Talked Down By Police
Police officers on Long Island were able to coax a wanted man off the roof of an area home as he sought to avoid being taken into custody, authorities announced. In Nassau County, detectives and police officers in Uniondale responded to a Clarendon Road home at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 5 to locate and apprehend 39-year-old resident Cregory Cole, who was wanted in Nassau County. Barricaded Man Who Threatened Doctor Ends Standoff Inside Long Island Home, Police Say
A barricaded, suicidal man who threatened a doctor was rescued inside a Long Island home. The incident took place around 11:17 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, when the department received a call regarding a suicidal subject at a residence in Hampton Bays, said Southampton Town Police Lt. Susan Ralph. The man had made threats against a doctor and threats of suicide, Ralph said. Patrol Officers responded along with members of the Emergency Service Unit and negotiators and at 1:25 p.m. negotiators were able to bring a peaceful resolution to the incident.

LI Man Sets Fire To House After Sending Texts To Family Members Threatening Self Harm
A Long Island man threatened "suicide by cop" and ultimately set a house on fire when officers arrived to check on his welfare after his family reported that he had sent them text messages threatening to harm himself. Pasquale Preziosa, of Atlantic Beach, 53, refused to come out of the house on Erie Avenue when officers arrived at the scene at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and threatened to harm those officers in an attempt to goad them into shooting him, according to Nassau County Police. Dog Rescued After Being Stranded In Marsh On Long Island
Fast-acting police officers came to the rescue of a dog that found itself in a precarious position stranded in a marsh on Long Island. Nassau County Police officers responded to Long Beach Road at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, where there was an adult male boxer that was stranded in the marsh and unable to make it back to the shore. Rescue crews were required when a bridge operator on Long Island fell through a hole in the deck and plunged into the frigid waters below, police said. First responders were dispatched to the Long Beach Bridge shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, where there were reports of a man who had fallen into the water.
