Deshawn Parrish ID’d As Pedestrian Killed On Route 112: Suffolk Police
A pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle on Route 112 in East Patchogue has been identified as Deshawn Parrish, Suffolk County police announced on Saturday, Jan. 4.
Parrish, 30, of Medford, was hit by a 2012 Nissan driven by 22-year-old Yvonne Balbucacuji near Sycamore Street at 10:45 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, police said.
Parrish was pronounced dead at the scene, while Balbucacuji, of Patchogue, was uninjured, according to authorities.
The Nissan was impounded for a safety inspection as detectives continue to investigate, police said.

A suspect has been apprehended in connection to a spree of burglaries of Long Island businesses.
Following an investigation by Suffolk County Police Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Squad detectives, Joseph Foresto, age 67, was charged with six commercial burglaries and an attempted burglary between Saturday, May 18, and Saturday, June 22.
During the burglaries, Foresto, a Lake Grove resident, forced entry by throwing objects through a glass door or window to enter the closed businesses.

Duo Nabbed For String Of Suffolk County ATM Burglaries
Two men have been accused of burglarizing multiple businesses and stealing ATMs on Long Island.
Following an investigation by Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives, the two were arrested and charged with a series of commercial burglaries and an attempted burglary between Tuesday, March 5, and Monday, March 11.
During the burglaries, police say, John Mahoney, 41, of Mastic, and Jamie Volini, age 46, of East Patchogue, forced entry through broken doors and windows into closed gas stations and businesses and damaged or stole the ATMs.

Christopher Hlavaty, age 22, of East Patchogue, died Monday night, June 10, after his motorcycle was struck by a car near Main Street and Rider Avenue in Patchogue, according to Suffolk County Police.

A 22-year-old Long Island man who pleaded guilty to trafficking “ghost guns,” ammunition, and more to alleged gang members will now spend years behind bars, officials announced.
On Monday, Sept. 25, Jeramya Sloan, also known as “JuJu,” was sentenced to 46 months in prison for selling weapons across Suffolk County, according to the Eastern District of New York U.S. Attorney's Office.
