Long Island Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Car
A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car on Long Island.
It happened on Monday, Oct. 28 just after 9:15 p.m. in East Islip.
John Dempsey, 60, of West Islip, was crossing Carleton Avenue eastbound, just south of Jefferson Street, when he was struck by a southbound 2002 Toyota Corolla, according to Suffolk County Police.
Dempsey was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, Joseph Ladonna, 51, of East Islip, was not injured.

Man Seriously Injured In Crash Between Van, Box Truck On Long Island Expressway
A man was seriously injured in a crash between a van and box truck on the Long Island Expressway.
It happened near Exit 50 in Melville on Monday, Sept. 30 at approximately 10:40 a.m., Suffolk County Police said.
Jeffrey Browne, 30, of East Islip, was driving a 2018 black Ford van eastbound when the van struck the rear of a 2007 Freightliner box truck stopped in traffic in the eastbound lane.
Browne was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries.

ID Released For Woman Killed In East Islip House Fire
A woman who died in an overnight East Islip house fire has been identified by officials.
Laurie Addeo, 61, a resident of the home, was killed when the fire started around 2:12 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27, at the home at 3 Washington Ave., said the Suffolk County Police.
Police said the five other residents of the home were able to escape unharmed.
Detectives do not believe the cause of the fire is suspicious, police said.
At least six fire departments responded to help battle the blaze including Islip Terrace, East Islip, Central Islip, Islip, Brentwood, and East Brentwood.Â

The identity of a missing boater who is the subject of a massive search has been released by Suffolk County Police.
U.S. Coast Guard officials, along with local law enforcement, are on the Great South Bay searching for Samuel Gutierrez, 47, of East Islip, who went overboard around 11 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, said the Suffolk County Police.
The incident took place near Heckscher State Park, said Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer Hunter Medley.

A coin dealer from Long Island has been charged in connection with a $330,000 cross-country coin consignment and sales scheme that targeted coin dealers and private collectors from California to Long Island.
