'Completely Preventable': LI Construction Company Owner Convicted For 5-Year-Old's Death
A Long Island construction company owner was convicted of criminally negligent homicide and more after a wall he built in New York City fell, killing a 5-year-old girl.
Nadeem Anwar, age 48 of Valley Stream, and his company – City Wide Construction and Renovations, Inc. – were convicted on Tuesday, May 14, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced.
The conviction comes five years after Alysson Pinto-Chaumana, age 5, was killed in front of her mother when a wall fell on her in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Worker From Northern Westchester Dies After Falling From Business Roof
A worker from Westchester died after falling off the roof of a Long Island business, police said.
The incident happened in Suffolk County on Monday, Jan. 18 at around 3:40 p.m.
Hector Aranda-Sanchez, age 27, of Peekskill, an employee of a Yonkers-based roofing company, was on the roof of Four Seasons Sunrooms and Windows, located at 5005 Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook, when he fell from the roof, police said.
Aranda-Sanchez was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

Long Island Woman Killed By Falling Plywood
A 67-year-old Long Island woman was killed after a piece of plywood flew off a building under construction and struck her as she was walking by the site.
The incident took place around 9:44 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, in the area of 41-28 Main Street in Flushing, Queens, said the New York City Police.
According to police, Xiang Ji, of Westbury, died after the piece of plywood flew off the building, striking her.
Officers found Ji unconscious and EMS transported her to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Queens where she was pronounced dead, NYPD said.
